English

This first cycle we will be focusing on the story Escape from Pompei.  In particular we will be looking at character traits meaning we will be focusing on how the characters in the books are shown. What are their personalities like and why do they make the decisions that they do? We will use this to base our creative writing around.

As our grammar focus we will be looking more at descriptive writing in particular looking at nouns and adjectives and how to stretch them further to push our writing to the next level.

Maths

This half term in Maths we will be focusing on multiplication and division. This includes learning facts for the 7s and 8's times tables. We will be practising our multiplication facts and leading up to using our division skills more often. We highly recommend you use Timestable Rockstars to help practice your division as it can be quite tricky!

Our numerical focus will be moving onto decimals and measurement. We will be looking at place value and the wide array of measurements that we use in every day life.

We will be continuously practicing our times tables. Please encourage your child to go onto Timestable Rockstars as much as possible at home.

Science

This half term our focus will be Electricity. The children will be taught to:

  • What is electricity?
  • How do we control electricity?
  • What is a circuit?
  • What does it meant to conduct electricity?
