School Crossing Patrol
RE: SCHOOL CROSSING PATROL
Further to requests from some parents to investigate the loss of one of the school’s crossing patrols I wanted to update you all with the information that has been provided to me by the Bury School Crossing Patrol department:
Please be advised with effect from Monday 19 April 2021 there will not be a patrol on duty at Elton Hill Road until further notice. As previously explained we cannot accommodate both crossing points. When allocating cover the local authority prioritises the crossing points based on the number of children crossing with the patrol and the volume of traffic. The crossing point outside of school has a higher volume of traffic and footfall therefore we must prioritise this point.
The School Crossing Patrol team continue to prioritise recruitment, although it is a difficult role to recruit to we are keen to increase the number of patrols available and continue to promote the service. An advertisement for school crossing patrols is on the Greater Jobs website permanently and we are regularly interviewing and appointing staff.
While this is not the news we wanted to hear I can assure you that I will continue to lobby the local authority on behalf of the school community to seek the reinstatement of this post as soon as recruitment has been completed.
