Key Information

  • Reading books and records should be brought to school daily. Please ensure your child reads regularly throughout the week and an adult signs their reading record.
  • PE days are Monday and Tuesday. Please can the children come to school in their PE kit on Mondays as their lesson is at 9.30. Children will need to change into their  school uniform after PE on Monday, so please send this into school with them.

English

Writing

Our focus genres this half term will be fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Our focus texts will be The Robot and the Blue Bird by David Lucas, Meerkat Mail by Emily Gravett and Twas the Night Before Christmas by Clarke Moore. These offer opportunities for the children to write character descriptions, a non-chronological report and poems.

Little Wandle - Phonics

Children accessing Little Wandle phonics will have reading books set on line via Collins Big Cat ebooks. The phonetically decodable books have been carefully matched to your child’s phonic phase. If your child is reading it with little help, please don’t worry that it’s too easy – your child needs to develop fluency and confidence in reading. Please listen to them read the book. Remember to give your child lots of praise and celebrate their success! If they can’t read a word, read it to them. After your child has finished, talk about the book together.
